A monthly REAL WORLD math blog link-up hosted by MissMathDork,

I really enjoy sewing, but I find it difficult to not zone out a little and keep my 1/4 inch in-seam.  But, recently my mother-in-law bought me a little gift that she came across while hanging out in one of her favorite fabric shops.  I wasn’t exactly sure how to use it, nor was she, so I used my typical DIY go-to You Tube and found quite a few videos that all said the same thing.

Basically, this is a really cool ruler that works in two ways – 1) helps you figure out the correct spacing from your needle to where you want the inseam to appear in your fabric, and 2) holds a straight edge for you to line up your tape (then you line your fabric up with the tape to stay at a consistent 1/4″ away from the needle).

After lining everything up, then I laid down the painter’s tape…

…and reminded myself to make a cut so that I could still remove my platform to change out my bobbin.

Loving how easy this was AND how versatile this little tool is.  I almost always need a 1/4″ inseam, but with it I can also easily adapt to  3/8″, 1/2″, 5/8″, and/or 3/4″ seams.  Thanks, Judy!!

Oh, I almost forgot!! Last month was my 4 year #MathISRealLife anniversary. If you missed it, check it out HERE.
