Holy cow!  It’s been an incredible week over here!  On Friday morning my Facebook page had a 150 fan jump and I hit 2000 followers!  Between that, hitting 1,800 followers on TpT AND it being my birthday this week, I decided that we needed to celebrate!!  AND, you know that I just LOVE to share an awesome celebration with you!

5. Happy Birthday and congrats on giving to others on your Birthday. My daughter was in Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh on her birthday (she had her son in the CICU) and she gave away toys to the children in the hospital and visiting siblings. Pay it forward is great!

Fractions are always the most challenging!

7. Systems of inequalities seem to give them a difficult time.

9. Problem solving with multiplication and division of fractions is the most challenging to teach.

10. Multi step problem solving is the hardest thing for my kids. They always seem to want to stop after solving the first step! Congrats!!!

11. My students seem to struggle most with solving multi-step equations. They can perform and two step equations well. They struggle when we work on multi-step equations with the distributive property and/or fractions.

22. Teaching angles in measurement with a protractor is extremely difficult for my students…..or
maybe it’s me!!

23. Another challenging area for me is multi-step problem solving, if the question looks too long, my students tend to give up.

24. The challenging area right now for me is teaching my fourth graders to use a protractor correctly especially reading it!

25. Tough choice for most difficult to teach. It’s either long division, particularly if you have a group of students that don’t know their math facts. Or multiplying and dividing fractions. And that is possibly because it’s new to me to teach (thank you, Common Core) so I’m not as familiar with it.

26. This year, my most challenging concept has been adding and subtracting negative numbers.

28. Graphing slope on a line!! This used to be a fifth grade standard in CA.. thank you Common Core.. this standard not only kicked my students’ butts it pretty much kicked their teacher into exhaustion from trying to explain this concept which 10 year olds are not ready for!!

29. Happy Birthday! There are many math topics that are difficult for my special needs students. If I had to choose one, it would be multi-step word problems. Thanks so much for hosting the Giveaway!

30. The hardest part is helping kids understand WHY we are dividing and multiplying fractions, then being able to apply that knowledge to a word problem and picking the right operation while solving that word problem. Happy Birthday by the way!! WAHOO! I love birthday weeks! ðŸ˜€

31. Operations with Fractions are difficult, especially after you’ve taught them addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, and they have to remember when they have to change to like denominators, when they don’t, when they have to find the reciprocal, etc.

32. Multi-Step Word Problems are definitely the biggest struggle for my students. The biggest reasons are reading comprehension and not completing both steps.

33. I believe my kids struggle with fraction operations the most and I’m not sure part of the problem isn’t simply the word “fraction”! 34. Because I have younger ones, their problems are different. But, we have Everyday Math, so my students biggest problem is that the program moves so quickly for them. With their spiral approach, my kids haven’t even understood the problem or concept before they move on to something else. Then, when it comes up again, they have forgotten it.
